FAA Change of Address: Why is It Necessary?

It is a very special privilege to be able to fly in American airspace. With so many unique aerial vistas, countless airports both large and small, and relative ease of travel, it is no wonder that aviation is a popular, lifelong hobby for many. In order to protect those skies, however, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) faces a number of important tasks. How to Complete Your FAA Change of Address

So, now that you know a bit of background about the FAA and why keeping a current address on file is so important, you should learn a bit more about the paperwork process for update notification. To carry out changing your address, you will need to complete a Form AC 8060-55 – Change of Address Notification. This document will ask for some facts about your plane, such as its manufacturer, model, serial, and N-numbers. You will also need to provide your name and new address. Once completed, you can return this document to the FAA’s offices in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for processing. 

Once you move, you have 30 days to notify the FAA. A failure to submit your Form AC 8060-55 can result in fines and a loss of your aircraft registration and N-number. With so much at stake, it is generally wise to stay on top of this matter.
