Can You Find Reregister Plane Documents Online?

When you own your own aircraft, you can experience a feeling of freedom that is truly unmatched. As you soar above the clouds, far away from the stresses of daily life on the ground, there is a tranquil sense of solitude that you cannot really find anywhere else. Of course, purchasing an aircraft is a sizable investment, and for many, it is the most expensive purchase they will ever make. With that in mind, it makes sense that you would want to perform ample due diligence before finalizing a sale. That means thoroughly researching the different types of manufacturers and makes before ultimately settling on the model that is right for you. From there, you will need to peruse “for sale” ads in both print and digital resources. Once you have found a seller and come to an agreement on a price, you are one step closer to takeoff. Before you can clear the runway, though, there will be some Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) paperwork matters to attend to. Registering your aircraft is a legal must, and should that registration expire, you will need to process reregister plane documents with the FAA. Fortunately, with our help, you can do this online.

The FAA plays an important role in aviation safety. As the primary agency for all matters in the air for the United States, the FAA is tasked with a challenging job. In addition to crafting safety guidelines and regulations, they also issue pilot licenses, and aircraft registrations, and monitor all air traffic in our skies. Having existed in its current iteration for more than 70 years, the FAA is a key player in United States aviation. In your time as a pilot, you can expect to work with the FAA periodically. When you purchase an aircraft, you will file an AC 8050-1 form, which registers your plane with the FAA. Your registration will assign your plane an N-number and designate your plane as legal to operate. Sometimes, however, mistakes happen, and individuals can allow their registration to lapse. If this has happened to you, there is no need to panic–by filing reregistered plane documents, you can get back up in the air in no time. Read on to learn more about this document, as well as how you can use our web forms to process it online.

When Do You Need a Reregister Plane Document?

When you buy a plane, it can be a uniquely exciting occasion. Chances are you saved for months or even years to make a dream you have held since childhood come true. Owning and operating an airplane is also a considerable responsibility. The onus is on you to ensure that your plane is regularly cleaned and current on its scheduled maintenance. You also need to stay on top of your FAA documentation, and that all starts with processing your AC 8050-1 – Aircraft Registration Application. This document will call for some basic information about your aircraft, such as its make, model, and serial number. You will also need to provide some basic information about yourself, such as your name and address. Once you have completed this document and submitted it to the FAA’s offices in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, you will be given an N-number, which is sometimes called a tail number. This alphanumeric string of digits, which does allow for customization within certain parameters, serves to identify your aircraft.

When a registration is assigned to a plane owner, it is valid for a period of three years. Six months ahead of your expiration date, the FAA will send you a notice encouraging you to submit a renewal request. They will follow up at two months out if you have not yet submitted your renewal. In this reminder, there will be a security code that you will need to enter on your renewal form. What happens, though, if you forget to do this and your registration expires?

When registration lapses, a plane must be grounded, as it can not legally fly. You can, however, submit a reregister plane request to the FAA in order to get back in good standing. The form for this will prompt you for your name and address. You will also need to fill in your plane’s N-number, serial number, manufacturer, and model. You can do this by filling out a paper form, or by working with us at the National Aviation Center.
