Reregister Airplane Documentation

When Will You Need to Reregister Airplane Documentation?

Keeping up your airplane registration is a priority until it isn’t. Maybe you’re not flying your aircraft for a while or it will be registered elsewhere for a while. Perhaps you were just forgetful and missed out on the renewal window. Either way, it’s going to be important to know that should you need to use the aircraft again, you will have to go through the reregister airplane process. This application will be very useful in very specific circumstances, so let’s take a closer look at the process to restore aircraft registration.

Restoring Your Airplane Registration

In order to restore registration of an aircraft, the reasons behind it aren’t as important or relevant to the process, meaning that regardless of the circumstances in which the original registration expired or was deleted, the process will most likely be the same. Still, let’s take a closer look at the different scenarios you might find yourself in.

Your Aircraft Registration Expired

Your aircraft registration is only valid for as long as you keep it valid, meaning that you need to renew it before the set expiration date in order for it to remain useful and effective. You will have to do this by way of the renewal form, which you can submit prior to the expiration date. After the date has passed, though, you can’t go through the renewal process. Instead, you will have to go through the reregistration application. The reregister airplane process is going to be fairly straightforward and it will mostly just involve filling out the corresponding form in order to reactivate the documentation. Unlike the hard expiration deadline for the renewal process, you will have no real deadline for the reregistration process.

You Deleted Your Registration Reregister Airplane

Now, sometimes the aircraft’s documentation didn’t expire by accident, but it was, in fact, deleted from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Civil Aviation registry. This might have been done for a variety of reasons. Maybe the aircraft was going to be registered abroad for a while, or maybe it would be grounded indefinitely for a variety of different purposes. Regardless of the details behind the deletion, you will need to go through the reregister airplane process in order to restore the aircraft’s documentation. Once again, this doesn’t have to be a complicated process, but it’s important that you exercise attention to detail at the time of submitting the corresponding form to the Federal Aviation Administration. This way, you can make sure that the process is carried out properly and that no mistakes are made in the registration.
