You’ve probably noticed that your aircraft registration has an expiration date. Like many other official documents, you will have to renew them accordingly. Let’s go over the aircraft registration renewal process so that expiration doesn’t catch you off guard.
Aircraft Registration Renewal
As important as it is to get your registration in the first place, you will need to remember to make sure it remains valid throughout your ownership. This means that you need to pay particular attention to the expiration date on your registration. Let’s take a closer look at what this process will look like so that you don’t have to worry about your registration potentially expiring on you.
When to Best Renew Your Registration
It’s good to keep in mind the expiration date of your registration, but it is just as important to not get ahead of yourself. If you submit for renewal too far ahead of the expiration date, you might end up with rejection in your hands, so it’s always better to time it properly. What do we mean by that? Well, it’s best if you wait until you are within at least three months of the expiration date, but ideally, before the date is a month away. This will give you plenty of time to get your renewal processed without having to get too ahead of yourself. The renewal form, mostly involving key identifying information about the aircraft, as well as payment for the renewal fee.
What if Your Registration Expires
So, if for whatever reason, you happened to let your registration expire, your registration isn’t gone for good. However, the process to get it back up will be slightly different. It doesn’t matter whether it expired a day or a month ago, you will have to go through the reinstatement process. This is fairly similar to the renewal process save for the fact that it’s slightly more expensive in terms of the application fee. Other than that, however, you will find that it will be essentially the same process with a different name. You will also have to fill out identifying information about the aircraft, as well as some basic information about the owner. Having filled out this re-registration form, which you will find here on our platform, it will only be a matter of time before your registration is back up and you’re able to fly again with no issue whatsoever.
